About
I’m James, and this is my place on the web.
I’m currently finishing my PhD in philosophy of science at The University of Western Ontario where I’m a member of the Rotman Institute of Philosophy. My dissertation research is on scientific explanation. I also do research on biomedical ontologies and their clinical application, particularly in radiology.
Before starting my PhD I worked as a web developer, and I’ve continued to improve those skills. I was a contributor and then project leader for Mozile, an inline web page editor. I have some projects and forks on GitHub. My main interest is in combining my research and my technical skills to help scientists think, communicate, and collaborate with clarity and precision. I’m available for contract work.
And before that I attended Carleton University, where I earned a humanities degree, a mathematics degree, and an MA in philosophy.
